Bangkit Dalam Bencana
“Adakah yang berinisiatif membantu kami di sini ?”, “Listrik mati, air mulai naik kami membutuhkan bantuan segera” atau tulisan yang dibawa warga korban lumpur, “Omah kelem, mangan gak oleh. Yok opo iki”.Demikian ungkapan para korban bencana sejak Desember lalu hingga pertengahan Maret, ketika banjir kembali melanda. Saudara-saudara di lokasi bencana di Ponorogo, Madiun, Ngawi, Bojonegoro, Cepu, Tuban, Lamongan, Gresik, Kediri, Pasuruan dan Situbondo. Juga warga korban lumpur di seputaran Porong kembali mengetuk keprihatinan.
Curah hujan begitu tinggi dan musim hujan ternyata relatif panjang dari prediksi Badan Meteorologi dan Geofisika yang memperkirakan berakhir pada Februari lalu. Banjir dan tanah longsor menjadi ancaman setiap kali hujan deras terjadi.
Ratusan rumah di Situbondo rusak diterjang banjir bandang. Di daerah-daerah lain yang dilanda banjir, ratusan hektar sawah dan tambak terendam, para petani gagal panen, jalan rusak dan jembatan putus menganggu perekonomian. Dalam suasana keprihatinan sedemikian itu, terasa pas seruan Yesus di salib, serupa solider, senasib dengan para korban dan penderita, ”AllahKu, Ya AllahKu, mengapa Engkau meninggalkan Aku?”
Bencana yang mengakibatkan penderitaan dan kerugian tidak dapat dihindari. Namun, bencana, penderitaan dan kerugian mempunyai pengaruh menyempurnakan, mengganti dan mengubah. Aneka kesulitan itu memiliki karakteristik menjernihkan, memiliki sifat menggerakkan, sekaligus menciptakan kewaspadaan serta menghilangkan kelemahan. Itulah hikmah dalam bencana. Itulah kebangkitan, sesudah kematian.
Para korban banjir, pemerintah dan aparaturnya, lembaga swadaya masyarakat, partai politik dan masyarakat dapat belajar dari bencana yang serentak menimpa beberapa daerah. Betapa penting mengkoordinasi bantuan agar bantuan tepat sasaran secara efektif dan efisien tanpa mempedulikan kepentingan pribadi (self interest). Betapa penting mendahulukan aspek kemanusiaan korban daripada memperdebatkannya.
Tak kalah penting ialah deteksi dini demi pengurangan resiko bencana. Juga upaya pencegahan jangka panjang dengan penghijauan dan pemanfaatan tanggul sesuai peruntukan. Habis bencana, penderitaan dan kerugian diharapkan terbitlah kearifan. Orang terkena bencana itu biasa, tetapi orang terkena bencana lalu bangkit lagi itu luar biasa.
Demikianlah, kehidupan lebih kuat dari kematian. Kehidupan yang kuat terpancar dari sikap penuh daya hidup, tidak rapuh dan bahkan tidak memikirkan diri sendiri, merupakan sikap sungguh berharga di dalam dunia ini. Hanya orang yang paling kuat, yang tahan dalam perjuangan mempertahankan hidup (strugle for life). Sedangkan orang yang tak punya daya hidup, rapuh dan lemah akan rebah dan musnah, sesuai hukum alam yang hanya memungkinkan yang paling kuat yang sanggup bertahan (survival of the fittest).
Tak seorang pun ingin menjadi orang malang, melainkan mujur. Tak seorang pun ingin terlalu lama berduka, melainkan bahagia. Serupa pepatah, orang jatuh itu biasa, tetapi orang jatuh lalu bangkit lagi itu luar biasa. Misteri Paskah mengajak untuk menghayati rahasia agung, mati lalu bangkit. Justru dan hanya karena itu manusia dapat hidup dengan sepenuh-penuhnya.
Banjir bandang telah merusakkan rumah, menenggelamkan ratusan hektar sawah dan tambak siap panen, meluluhlantakkan jalan dan jembatan, menganggu perekonomian dan membuat kehidupan suram dan sesak. Dalam keadaan tanpa harapan, betapa berharganya sosok pewarta harapan bagi yang mengalami keterpurukan. Pewarta harapan ialah para penyumbang dan sukarelawan yang tergerak hati membantu dengan tulus hati.
Misteri agung, mati lalu bangkit memiliki bentuk yang tak terbilang jumlahnya, seperti perhatian manusiawi yang hangat kepada orang membutuhkan bantuan, tersenyum menyapa dengan sepatah kata yang memberi semangat atau merelakan diri terlibat dalam karya sosial nyata. Semua tanda perhatian yang sederhana ini dapat berarti kehidupan baru yang juga berarti memberi kebangkitan bagi sesama.
Dengan mengambil bagian dalam kebangkitan Yesus yang memberi kehidupan, manusia mengatasi kelemahan, ketakutan akan maut, dosa dan neraka. Partisipasi memberi hidup dengan cara apapun, berarti ikut serta dalam kebangkitan Yesus. Hidup itu lebih kuat dari maut. Cinta kasih, pemberian diri secara radikal telah mengalahkan kematian. Hidup, cinta kasih dan pemberiaan diri itulah yang harus kita wartakan.
Inilah pesan paskah, tidak percuma menyerahkan hidupnya sendiri agar orang lain dapat hidup, tidak percuma mengulurkan tangan membantu agar para korban ringan beban hidupnya, tidak percuma mengorbankan waktu, biaya dan tenaga agar para korban kembali memiliki semangat hidup. Selamat Paskah 2008.
