PERANGKAP TIKUS, sebuah renungan
Sepasang suami-istri petani pulang ke rumah setelah berbelanja dari pasar. Ketika mereka membuka barang belanjaan, seekor tikus yang bertiarap di kolong meja memperhatikan dengan seksama sambil menggumam : “hmmm…makanan apa lagi yang mereka bawa ??”
Ternyata, salah satu yang dibeli oleh petani ini adalah Perangkap Tikus. Sang tikus tentu kaget ! bukan kepalang. Ia segera berlari menuju kandang dan berteriak ” Ada Perangkap Tikus di rumah….di rumah sekarang ada perangkap tikus….” katanya sambil terengah-engah.
Ia mendatangi ayam dan berteriak “ada perangkap tikus”. Sang Ayam berkata dengan rileks : “Tuan Tikus…, aku turut bersedih, tapi itu kan tidak berpengaruh terhadap keselamatanku”. Kecewa mendapat jawaban Ayam, Sang Tikus lalu pergi menemui seekor Kambing sambil berteriak. Sang Kambing pun berkata : “Aku turut ber simpati…tapi tidak ada yang bisa aku lakukan”
Tikus lalu menemui Sapi, dengan harapan mendapatkan jawaban yang diingininya. Sayang, ia mendapat jawaban yang selalu sama. ” Maafkan aku. Tapi perangkap tikus tidak berbahaya buatku sama sekali”. Ia ahirnya lari ke hutan dan bertemu Ular, walaupun sebetulnya menantang bahaya. Sang ular berkata : “Ahhh…Perangkap Tikus yang kecil tidak akan mencelakai aku”. Dengan lunglai, akhirnya Sang Tikus kembali ke rumah dengan pasrah, kepalanya menunduk menatap kosong jalan bebatuan, mengetahui kalau ia akan menghadapi bahaya sendirian.
Suatu malam, pemilik rumah terbangun mendengar suara keras perangkap tikusnya berbunyi, menandakan telah memakan korban. Ketika melihat perangkap tikusnya, ternyata seekor ular berbisa. Buntut ular yang terperangkap membuat ular semakin ganas dan menyerang istri pemilik rumah. Walaupun sang Suami sempat membunuh ular berbisa tersebut, sang istri tidak sempat diselamatkan. Sang suami harus membawa istrinya kerumah sakit dan beberapa hari kemudian istrinya sudah boleh pulang. Sayang, demam istrinya tak pernah hilang.
Ia lalu minta dibuatkan sop ceker ayam oleh suaminya (konon sop ceker ayam sangat bermanfaat buat mengurangi demam). Suaminya dengan segera menyembelih ayamnya untuk dimasak cekernya. Tapi setelah beberapa hari, sakitnya tidak kunjung reda. Seorang teman menyarankan untuk makan hati kambing. Ia lalu menyembelih kambingnya untuk mengambil hatinya. Masih, istrinya tidak sembuh-sembuh dan akhirnya meninggal dunia. Banyak sekali orang datang pada saat pemakaman, sehingga sang Petani harus menyembelih sapi untuk memberi makan orang-orang yang melayat.
Hujan rintik sore itu. Di bawah pohon nangka, Sang Tikus menatap kandang yang kosong penuh kesedihan. Dan beberapa hari kemudian ia melihat perangkap tikuspun sudah tidak di tempatnya lagi ……………………
